What Will You Learn?

• Introduction: Overview of the Chinese language: Learn about tones, speech sounds, and grammar. Introduction to Chinese characters and basic sentence structure.
• Chapter 1: Meeting for the First Time: Introduce yourself and greet others, Respond to yes/no questions, Use appropriate forms of address, Write your first Chinese characters
• Chapter 2: Name, Nationality, and Age: Share your name, nationality, and age, Ask and respond to questions about these topics, Count from 0 to 99, Practice polite expressions and say goodbye, Write more characters.
• Chapter 3: At a Company Party: Exchange greetings more formally, Use time-related phrases, Learn question words like nǎr (where) and shéi (who), Use le for past actions and negate verbs with méiyǒu/méi, Write more characters and recognize basic signs.
• Chapter 4: Asking the Time: Tell and inquire about the time, Use the verb yǒu (to have) correctly, Ask yes/no questions in different ways, Make appointments and apologize, Recognize and write more characters
• Chapter 5: Family and Friends: Describe your family and ask about others’ families, Discuss occupations and use the present continuous tense, Ask after someone’s wellbeing, Write and recognize additional characters
